PostHeaderIcon How far are speakers allowed to take speeches about teen pregnancy prevention?

Punx A asked:

This is in a public high school. Are they allowed to talk about religion, abortion, premarital sex, ect? I’m the chairman for Teen Pregnancy Prevention at my school & we need to know the rules before we can get a speaker or get started with anything. Please help & tell me where you got the information from. Thank you. (The school is in Florida by the way).

PostHeaderIcon How bad do you consider teen pregnancy to be?

Emily K asked:

Out of all the things that teenagers do (drugs, alcohol, stupid risky behavior), rate how bad teen pregnancy is. This is regardless of whether they keep the baby, give it up for adoption, or get an abortion–simply the fact that they got pregnany. Rate it on a scale of 1-10, 1 being no big deal, 10 being the most terrible thing in the world.

PostHeaderIcon What can be done to decrease the rate of teen pregnancy?

Elf #3 asked:

Sex education in schools has proven to be ineffective in reducing the teen pregnancy rate. Many people believe that teenagers are going to experiment with *** no matter what they are taught at home and in school. If we assume that teens WILL have *** anyway, what can we do to prevent them from becoming pregnant? Is there some kind of social or educational program that could effectively address this problem?

Assumptions:
1. Some parents will educate their children about sex, but many will not.
2. Some teens will choose abstinence – these are not the target.
3. Abortion is not to be included in any of the proposed options – for the purpose of focusing the discussion on the other options.
